Kaspersky: Number of spyware attacks rises by third globally
MOSCOW, Oct 20 (PRIME) -- The number of spyware attacks on user smartphones globally increased by 29% on the year to almost 800,000 in January–September, Russian antivirus maker Kaspersky said on Thursday in a statement.
Of the total, more than 320,000 attacks were registered in Russia in the reporting period.
The programs collect personal data without a user’s consent and hand it over to the perpetrators.
“They can get access to correspondence in the social networks and messengers, catch and study keystrokes, take screenshots,” Kaspersky said.
“This is not a full list of their possible functions. Malware is exploited to track ordinary users and as part of sophisticated target attacks on companies.”
